JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB GOAL:
To provide skilled work in the construction, maintenance, and repairs of wooden and masonry structures. To perform general carpentry work in the construction, alteration, and maintenance of buildings, floors, partitions, doors, windows, cabinets, wooden fixtures and furniture.
QUALIFICATIONS:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Skilled in the use and knowledge of the standard practices, methods, tools, and materials of the carpenter's trade. Ability to work from sketches, plans, and blueprints. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Knowledge of the occupational hazards involved and the safety precautions of the trade. Ability to meet deadlines with severe time constraints.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job the employee regularly works outside. The employee is exposed to both indoor and outdoor environmental conditions. Requires lifting, holding, carrying, sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, finger dexterity, grasping, feeling, repetitive motions, talking, hearing, and visual acuity. The employee must be able to meet deadlines with severe time constraints. The noise level in the work environment can be high at times. Safety is the highest priority.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District's approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the District.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of personnel.

JOB GOAL:

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma.
- Four (4) years' experience in the carpentry trade. A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
- Possession of a valid Florida Driver's license

SUPERVISES:

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform all general carpentry functions as required.
- Perform bench work in a carpenter shop; operating all equipment associated with the trade.
- Lay sub-flooring and sheathing.
- Build concrete forms on construction sites.
- Repair tables, benches, and other related items.
- Perform duties of general trades worker as required, including painting and masonry work.
- Maintain accurate records of daily work and time and payroll information.
- Follow safety standards in performing work and report unsafe conditions to Lead/Manager in a timely manner.
- May be required to work after hours and/or weekends.
- Travel outside of Manatee County as required in the performance of duties.
- Perform other duties as required.
